Skibowl offers FREE day passes Friday for Ski for Sunshine

Donate eight cans of food to the Portland Police Bureau’s Sunshine Division and you can get yourself a free lift ticket Friday, April 4, good from 9 am until 4 pm.

Skibowl has partnered with the Sunshine Division on this annual ski-for-free charity day for 26 years, raising 115,000 pounds of food for local families in need. All proceeds go to an organization that provides food and emergency services to local people in need due to lost jobs, injuries, illness, domestic violence, fire and other emergencies.

Skibowl President Kirk Hanna thanked Sunshine Division donors in a released statement for making “a significant difference in the lives of Portland area families and individuals. We are hoping to collect even more [food] this year since the need continues to grow.”

The ski-for-free event Friday will kick off the second-to-last weekend of the season for Skibowl, which stopped operating on weekdays and weeknights this week.

Skibowl will host its annual King and Queen of the Mountain competition on Saturday, April 5 and then wrap up its skiing and snowboarding season on Sunday, April 13.

The base is up to 56 inches deep on the Upper Bowl, and some fresh (though probably heavy and wet) snow is expected to fall on Friday.
