The first-ever Snowvana preseason party is on for October 21st and 22nd at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, and it is going to be huge.

Here’s a quick list of what to expect:

1,000 lift ticket giveaways

5 Snowvana Season Passes good for all three Mt. Hood resorts plus Mt. Bachelor

All sorts of free prizes will be raffled off during the two-day event: custom skis and snowboards from Oregon’s own Deviation and ON3P, helmets and goggles from POC, a pair of Armada 163s, and more. Winners will be announced Friday at 7pm and 9pm and Saturday at 1pm, 3pm and 6pm.

17 Concourse Level Booths

Local shops such as Next Adventure, Hillcrest and the Mountain Shop will be in attendance with gear galore, along with global brands including Salomon, Atomic, Rossignol and Nordica.

39 Arena Level Booths

Mt. Hood Ski Patrol, Sun Valley, ReRack, Mt. Hood Meadows, PACRAT ski racers, Hope on the Slopes, Ski to Defeat ALS, Lumberyard Indoor Bike Park, Mt. Hood Skibowl, Teton Gravity Research, the Mt. Hood Museum, the one and only Shred Hood (sorry) and many more. Free candy at the Shred Hood booth, so stop by and say hi!

4 top-notch bands playing from 6 pm until 10 pm on Friday

Grammy-nominated Robert Wynia starts at 6 pm, followed by Portland-based Michelle DeCourcy and the Rocktarts at 7, The Federal Empire at 8 and the Dandy Warhols at 9.

8 of Oregon’s greatest Drink Artisans

Sample libations and concoctions from 10 Barrel Brewing, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Rogue, Widmer, Bend Distillery (maker of Crater Lake Vodka) and Mt. Hood Brewing. (Take a train or Uber home if you plan to drink more than a couple, please.)

9 Skiing and Snowboarding films to get you stoked for 2016-17

Screenings will begin at 12:30 pm Saturday in the Georgia Pacific Room, off to the side from the main floor (the court where
Bill Walton and the Blazers won it all in ’77.

12:30 pm: Hometown feature Paradise Island Vol. 7

1 pm: Hometown Feature #2, Slow Your Roll and Satisfy the Soul

1:30 pm: Tom Wallisch’s Vice Versa

2:25 pm: Tanner Hall’s Ring the Alarm

3:20 pm: Some of the best female snowboarders in the world in Full Moon

4:25 pm: Level One’s Pleasure

5:40 pm: Match Stick Production’s Ruin and Rose

There you have it. 1,000+5+17+39+4+8+9 = 1,082 reasons, unless I got the math wrong.
