Saturday, Feb. 21 at Cascade Ski Club & Lodge: Crab Feed

Cascade Ski Club will hold its annual crab feed Saturday, Feb. 21 at the club lodge in Govy, with tons of great food and live music.

Steve Edgren and Ed Desmarteau will be playing acoustic music and Lodge Manager and Chef Joe Schuberg will prepare a feast of crustaceans, salmon, salad and other goodies.

The festivities will start at around 4 pm, at the big lodge across from Charlie’s at 30510 E. Blossom Trail, Government Camp, OR 97028.

Tickets can be purchased at the door, $35 for Adults and $20.00 for kids.

This is a public event, open to non-members as well as Cascade members.

Cascade Ski Club was founded in 1928 by Norwegian ski jumpers. The club’s rustic “Cascadian Style” Grand Lodge in the center of Government Camp has been a traditional gathering place on the mountain for ski and snowboard enthusiasts, racers and families since 1947. It has a huge, cozy fireplace, a board tuning area downstairs and many, many bunks for skiers and snowboarders weary from a day on the mountain.

Cascade offers $15-a-night bunk lodging and inexpensive meals in Government Camp at the club lodge, along with a few very affordable private rooms for members. Membership is open to all who pass a background check for safety; check the website for info about dues and initiation fees. Or call 503-272-9204.

Although it was founded as a ski lodge, Cascade is also an excellent home base for mountain biking, climbing, exploring, bungee cord jumping and other fun year-round Mount Hood activities. As the most affordable lodging option in Government Camp, it is worth getting to know.
