Saturday at Meadows: Ski to Defeat ALS

There is still time to sign up to participate in and/or support a powerful fundraising event led by Mount Hood legend Fred Noble, the subject of the new documentary “The Noble Spirit.”

Fred Noble was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2010, and he is currently hanging on for his life. ALS is a degenerative muscular disease that is progressive, degenerate and irreversible. It is a brutal disease for anyone, and it has been very hard on Noble, a legendary skier and windsurfer who has lost many of his motor functions and can no longer talk. But he has continued to fight the disease with as much strength as he can muster, as you can see from this preview to the documentary “The Noble Spirit” from Deep Roots Media:

If you are interested in seeing the full documentary, “The Noble Spirit” is playing Thursday, April 24 at the Lake Oswego Theater, 106 N. State St. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film shows at 7 p.m. There is a no-host bar and dinner. Tickets are $5.
