PACRAT and Mitey Mite racers gear up for their final races of 2013-14

Kid and adult racers will break out the Lycra for their final race runs this weekend at Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline.

PACRAT racers will run giant slalom gates at Timberline on Sunday, April 6, either up on Magic Mile if the weather cooperates or down on Pucci if visibility is poor on the upper mountain.

Kid racers will gather on Stadium at Meadows for the Kandy Kup Kombi on Saturday and the year-end Meadows Spring Final Super G on Sunday. This will be the first Super G for local kid racers and a good test to find out who has that built-in need for speed.

Racers of all ages have had to deal with a challenging season for setting courses on Mount Hood, especially at Skibowl, which usually serves as a workhorse for staging races but this year struggled with low snowpack. But there will be plenty of snow for this weekend’s races, and the forecast is calling for relatively cool temperatures, with some snow possible both Saturday and Sunday.

Hanging in the balance is the team championship for adult racers. After four races the top five Mount Hood PACRAT teams are:

  1. The Ruttin Rats of Schnee Vogeli
  2. The Kiss My Wax women of Skiyente
  3. The Mountain High Blizzardos
  4. The Skiyente Racy Brats
  5. The Mountain High Awesome tAles
