March makes up for January with excellent snow conditions

Mount Hood snow conditions have been excellent for the past two weeks, and more snow is on the way through the weekend.

Ever since the mountain monsoon of March 8-9, skiers and snowboarders have been treated to plenty of fresh snow and blue skies, as the photos below from Grant Myrdal attest.

After a pair of mid-March storms blanked the mountain with a foot and a half of fresh snow, clear skies and sunshine dominated for 10 days. Conditions have been sweet from Clark Canyon to Illumination Rock to the Upper Bowl Outback.

Now a new storm system is taking hold with some serious power to it. We could get another two feet of fresh snow by the weekend, at least in upper elevations, setting the stage for a fine April.

This slideshow from Grant Myrdal offers visual proof of how good conditions have been in Heather Canyon this March. If you’ve been up enjoying Mt. Hood Meadows lately, Grant and his team of photographers probably have a shot of you somewhere on their website, so check it out.

All of the pics below were shot in Heather Canyon. If you see yourself or someone you recognize, please mention in the comments or email me, and I will update with caption info.
