Snowvana Pre-Winter Bash to Launch Oct. 21-22 in Portland

A celebration to jump-start the 2016-17 snow season on Mount Hood is set to make its debut at the Memorial Coliseum the weekend of October 21-22.

The event is called Snowvana, and it is being promoted by lifelong Mount Hood skier and marketing pro Doug Fish of Fish Marketing as the “ultimate celebration of winter,” with live music, a Mt. Hood Film Festival, gear and apparel from local shops, a brew festival, wine and spirits tasting, and all sorts of lift ticket giveaways, including five Snowvana Unlimited All-Mountain Season Passes good for all winter at Timberline, Mt. Hood Meadows and Skibowl.

All three major Mount Hood resorts will be in attendance selling season passes, along with the Mount Hood Fusion Pass, which covers Timberline and Skibowl but not Meadows.

The Snowvana festivities will run from 3-10 pm on Friday, October 21 and from 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday, October 22. The Mt. Hood Film Festival is scheduled for Saturday. General admission costs $5 per day or $8 for a two-day pass. Children 12 and under can attend for free.

Snowvana will bring some new competition to the long-standing Portland SkiFever extravaganza, which is scheduled for November 4-6 at the Portland Expo Center with a similar menu of events, drinks and deals, including a large ski swap well known to Mount Hood regulars.

This article will be updated with fresh information as it becomes available. In the meantime, to learn more about Snowvana, check the website and Facebook page.
