March 21-22: Hope on the Slopes (assuming there is enough snow)

The 24-hour cancer-fighting fundraiser Hope on the Slopes returns to Mt. Hood Skibowl March 21-22 with prizes, good times and plenty of camaraderie.

Teams of skiers and snowboarders will compete in a 24-hour vertical challenge and see who can raise the most money from friends and families to support the American Cancer Society. There will be prizes for the most vertical and the most money raised, as well as a fun torchlight parade down the mountain.

The annual event has been held at Skibowl for years, and organizers are hoping the snowpack will improve to allow it to take place again in  2015. Skibowl has lost pretty much all of its snow base over the past few weeks and is only running is West Rope Tow and its Tubing Hill Conveyor Belt. But that could change quickly with a couple of long overdue snowstorms.

Last year’s Hope on the Slopes event was swamped with steady rain, but it was still a good time for the hearty souls who stuck it out for 23 hours of Oregon rain.

You can sign up your team, find a team to join or learn how to sponsor the event at hopeontheslopes.net.

Hope on the Slopes, Ski & Ride for a Cure has raised more than $4 million dollars for the American Cancer Society since 2003.
