Saturday, May 31: Hood 2 River Relay Race

Here’s your chance to rip it full throttle down snow, trails, roads and water from the top of the Mt. Hood Express chair at Meadows to the Columbia River waterfront in Hood River for a wild downhill relay race followed by a beer party on the waterfront.

The Hood 2 River race combines alpine skiing or snowboarding, cross country skiing, mountain biking, road bike racing, running and paddling down to the final sprint to the finish line. The course is 45 and a half miles long with a vertical drop of 6,397 feet.

Participants can compete individually or in teams. Competing individually will be a challenge logistically as well as physically, helping to explain why one of the main sponsors is Yakima Racks of Portland.

Another big sponsor, Hood River-based Full Sail Brewing, will be serving up cold ones near the finish line by the Columbia.

Registration costs $150 for individuals, $160 for pairs and $360 for relay teams. For full details, and to register in advance, click here.
