Hood River’s Hannah Bergemann takes first in three events at the national USASA freeskiing championships

Hood River Valley High School junior Hannah Bergemann took home some serious hardware from the USASA nationals April 5-9 in Copper Mountain, Colorado.

Bergemann followed up her stellar performance at the Oregon freeskiing championships last month at Mt. Hood Meadows with victories on the national stage in slopestyle, halfpipe and rail jam. She is now the top-ranked USASA woman in her age group of 16-18 years old in slopestyle, halfpipe, rail jam and skier cross.

Bergemann, who also competes as an alpine racer, was the 2014 Oregon Skimeister champion for combined excellence in racing and freestyle skiing. She led a Hood River girls freeskiiing squad that swept the podium in all events in states after dominating the 2013-14 USASA Mt. Hood Series, and she represented Mount Hood with style at nationals, out-competing freestyle skiers from California, Colorado, Idaho and elsewhere.

The USASA nationals are held in Colorado each spring to bring together top regional skiers and snowboarders from Alaska to New Jersey for one sprawling four-day event. Bergemann also competed at nationals last season, winning skiers cross and taking second in rail jam.

Bergemann is sponsored by 2nd Wind Sports in Hood River.
