West Linn boys and girls win an unusual high school night race at Meadows

Three Rivers league racers shredded gates under the lights at Meadows Saturday night, and West Linn’s boys and girls teams both emerged victorious.

Night races are unusual on Mount Hood, but this was just another example of teams, clubs and resorts working together creatively to stage competitions in a low-snow year, with Skibowl largely out of commission.

Emily Sarich of Parkrose was the top finisher for the girls Saturday night, with a combined time of 1:02:56. Trevor Maxwell of West Linn won overall in 55:53.

The top team finishers for the girls were West Linn, Lake Oswego and Central Catholic. The West Linn boys took first by more than 14 seconds, followed by Lakeridge and Catlin Gable.

In other high school racing action on Mount Hood over the weekend, Jesuit swept the boys and girls team Metro League slaloms on Saturday at Shooting Star Ridge, while Hood River Valley dominated another Mt. Hood League race.

Hood River Valley stars Austin Keillor and Lucy McLean won handily once again, giving them three victories each for the season.
