Skibowl’s Multorpor chairlift and the Summit Ski Area chair will run for the weekend

Mt. Hood Skibowl announced today that it will operate its Multorpor chairlift for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, along with the Summit Ski Area chair.

Multorpor is scheduled to operate this Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 am to 4 pm. Lift tickets will be discounted to $35 for the day, and all Skibowl season passes including night passes will be accepted.

Summit’s chairlift also will operate Saturday through Monday, 9 am-4 pm, and will honor all Skibowl and Fusion passes for the MLK weekend.

It will be the first time all season that Skibowl has managed to run chairlifts.

The West Rope Tow terrain park also will be open with 10 rail features, as well as the Parking Lot rope tow for beginner lessons.

The Snow Tube and Adventure Park at Skibowl East will be open Friday through Monday from 10 am to 5 pm, with a tubing hill, an indoor play zone, an 800 foot long Zip Line, a 100-foot bungee tower, Frosty’s Playland, mini snowmobiles and the Multorpor Lodge’s 70 Meter Bar and Grill. Cosmic Tubing will be open Wednesday 6:00pm to 10:00pm for a special session, Friday and Saturday from 6 to 11 pm and Sunday 6-10pm. There will be fireworks at 8 pm Saturday.

Skibowl announced its weekend schedule after yet another weather disappointment Sunday, when snow turned to rain at Skibowl’s lower elevation once again.

“Unfortunately we did not receive as much snow as we had hoped for,” Skibowl reported on its website , “and the liquid moisture we received on Sunday did not help.”

After a very successful preseason Fusion Pass selling season bolstered by the new Powder Alliance deal, Skibowl has been unable to operate its chairlifts all season. The resort has plowed ahead with its Rope Tow Terrain Park, its beginner lessons, and its Tubing Hill and other entertainments at Skibowl East, but pass-holders eager to shred Outback and the Upper Bowl are getting antsy.

“Skibowl would like to thank all our loyal season pass holders for your patience and understanding during this difficult start to the season,” the resort posted on its website Monday. “Keep in mind that we normally ski well into April, so there is still a lot of time left to make up once the snow comes.  Stay positive, keep doing your snow dances and we will see you on the slopes soon!”
