Skibowl blasts out the snow to open its rope tow freestyle park

Crews from Mt. Hood Skibowl are making the most of this week’s Arctic blast of cold air to pile up man-made snow and prepare for their first weekend opening of 2013-14.

Skibowl will run its West Rope Tow Terrain Park for freeriders and its Parking Lot Rope Tow for ski and snowboard lessons from 10 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday.

Skibowl and Mt. Hood Fusion season passes will be accepted, and day passes will sell for $20.

Skibowl will also offer day tubing at Skibowl East from 10 to 5 and Cosmic Tubing Friday and Saturday nights from 6 to 11 pm.

The Beer Stube will be open at Skibowl West until 6 pm and the 70 Meters Bar and Grill at Skibowl East will be open until 11:30 pm Friday and Saturday.

The forecast is calling for very cold temperatures through the week. That should allow for steady snowmaking and improve Skibowl’s chances of opening the upper mountain within the next few weeks.
