Dec. 6-7 in Sandy: Warren Miller Screenings and Gear Swap

Just when you thought the preseason film and swap season was over, the Sandy Ski team will host a two-day Warren Miller film and gear swap extravaganza at the Sandy High Auditorium.

Warren Miller’s Ticket to Ride will screen on Friday night and again on Saturday, with mouth-watering footage from Greenland, Iceland, Montana, Alaska, Austria and Kazakhstan. My favorite portion of Miller’s 64th film is the parachute skiing segment with J.T. Holmes and Espen Fadnes soaring high over the mountains of Kazakhstan, getting blown across the mountain and hiking back to town.

During the film’s 30-minute intermission, and before and after the screening, patrons can support Sandy High racers by loading up on new and used gear. Hillcrest Ski and Sports will be in attendance and there will be a raffle and a silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit the Sandy High ski team, which competes in alpine racing under the direction of Coach Josh Kanable and in freestyle skiing under Coach Derek Roy.
