October 3, 2013: Fresh Snow on the Mountain!

It’s looking like winter up on Mount Hood, with fresh snow reported at Skibowl, Timberline and Meadows. Of course it won’t last for long, but the sight of untracked powder does get the juices flowing.

If you’ve got backcountry gear and know-how, move quickly before it all melts. Sunshine expected for several days.

Snow depth at the base of Meadows: 10 inches

Annual snowfall at Timberline: 27 inches

Wind: Almost non-existent

Freezing Level: 5200 feet this morning, rising to 10,000 feet Friday and 13,000 feet Saturday.

Roads: Clear

Sources: NWAC, NWS, ODOT cameras, Timberline, Meadows, Skibowl, snow-forecast,
