I know you’ve been burned before, but… the forecast calls for snow on Mount Hood next week

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a mix of rain and snow over the weekend, turning into snow Sunday night and snowing hard through Monday and Tuesday.

Okay, so plenty of other snow predictions have gone bust this season, with precipitation turning into rain and washing away the base more often than not.

But this storm could be different. Time will tell, but as of Friday morning there is a 100 percent chance of snow listed for Monday.

Temira’s forecast is predicting two inches by Saturday morning, followed by a steep drop in the snow level to 3500 feet Monday, with over an inch of precipitation in water value falling. “If that really happens,” she writes, “we’re looking at 12-18”+ of snowfall, the biggest dump of the season. So, cross your fingers that the long-range models are correct!”

The Weather Service is also predicting 8-14 inches between Sunday night and Monday.

That powder day we’ve been waiting for since New Year’s Day could finally be coming.
