Now that the season is nearly over, the snow just keeps coming.

Another seven inches of fresh snow fell on the upper mountain Sunday night, and there is snow in the forecast through the week and into the weekend.

It hasn’t been sticky Cascade concrete, either. Nothing but smooth, creamy snow stashes so far in April, after months without any powder to speak of.

Once the visibility cleared on Monday, conditions were outstanding. Here’s Jason Cassell in the trees:

Conditions were so good that photographer Grant Myrdal took a break from his usual spot behind the camera to get out and enjoy some slashes of his own:

The snow is still pretty thin on the lower mountain, but up on Cascade and Palmer it is surprisingly deep. That bodes well for the upcoming late spring and summer season at Timberline, with 18 summer camps for snowboarders, freeskiers and alpine racers.

Meadows plans to operate daily through Sunday, April 12 and then weekends, if weather and conditions allow. We’ll have to wait and see what the next series of storms brings.

As of Tuesday, April 7, the snow base is 61 inches at 5880 feet at Timberline and 32 inches at 5380 feet at Meadows.

The forecast calls for sporadic snow through the weekend and into next week.
