Skiers and snowboarders from West Linn, Hood River Valley and Lincoln racked up victories in a wild weekend of high school racing and freestyle action on Mount Hood.
The West Linn Snowboarding team dominated the Three Rivers League racing at Timberline Sunday, winning the banked slalom for both boys and girls. Michael Foushee won the snowboard cross race that was held the same day, and Alexa Gilbertson took first for the girls.
West Linn’s alpine team also continued to power through the racing season with three finishers in the top 10 at slalom race Saturday at Meadows. West Linn junior Trevor Maxwell won by a whopping four seconds combined in the boys race, while Parkrose’s one-girl team Emily Sarich won again, by nearly two seconds.
Full results for the Three Rivers League race can be found at live-timing.
Hood River Valley also built on an impressive record in a Mt. Hood League race held Saturday at Meadows, with five finishers in the top 10 for the boys and four in the top 10 for the girls. The top three finishers for the girls were all from Hood River. Korey Cinock took first, Lucy McLean was second and Kelli Clarke finished third.
The top three Mt. Hood League GS finishers for the boys were:
- William Lamer, Hood River Valley
- Austin Keillor, Hood River Valley
- Jay Raitt, Cleveland
Full individual results are at live-timing.
In freestyle competition, I caught some of the awards ceremony Sunday for the Metro League Slopestyle and heard a lot of winners being announced from Lincoln. But I couldn’t stay for long, and I haven’t been able to find the results.
Any help tracking down those results or any others would be greatly appreciated. E-mail me anytime with results, story ideas, photos, videos, whatever you have to share.
Here is a video from Robin Cressy with some highlights from the 2014 Metro Ski Racing season to date, with a lot of general silliness:
