Hope you enjoyed your six days of winter, because there is nothing in the seven-day forecast but sunshine. Temperatures should hover in the 40s and 50s for a Mount Hood holiday weekend packed with events.

The big gains in snowpack from last weekend’s wild storm are melting away bit by bit. But roads should be dry and clear, and so should the skies, with excellent visibility and spring-like snow. Where there is snow.

Skibowl and Summit will operate chairlifts this weekend for the first time of 2013-14, the Season of the Slug. No Upper Bowl or Lower Bowl chairs, but Multorpor will run. There will even be a Mitey Mite race on Sunday at Multorpor, although staging the race will be challenging. Parents and coaches will be busy all day salting the slush and filling in ruts for the 2014 Kids Kandahar.

High school racing also cranks up this weekend at Meadows, with two races scheduled for Saturday and one for Sunday.

It will be a big weekend on Mount Hood for freestylers too. Going on all weekend at Meadows is the Burton Mountain Festival, with free board demos, parties and a Riglet Park for future shredders. With the recent opening of Forest Park, Meadows now has five terrain parks open: The Zoo, Shipyard, Fireweed, Vista and Forest Park.

Three freestyle competitions are scheduled for this weekend on Mount Hood: a Three Rivers League Slopestyle on Thunder Park at Timberline Friday, a ReRack Rail Jam Saturday on Shipyard at Meadows, and a USASA Slopestyle Sunday on Fireweed at Meadows.

Monday’s scheduled halfpipe competition at Meadows has been canceled for lack of snow.

Skibowl will operate Multorpor, its rope tows at Skibowl West and its Tubing Hill at Skibowl East. There will be a party with fireworks Saturday night by the Tubing Hill, with the fireworks show starting at 8 pm.
