Storm rolling in, could bring snow – or rain

A storm is expected to hit Mount Hood next week. Will it bring rain or snow?

The National Weather Service is predicting rain and snow Monday through Friday, with the snow level 4,000 feet Monday, 5,000 feet Tuesday, 4,000 feet Wednesday, 3,000 feet Thursday and 4500 feet Friday.

Snow-forecast.com is calling for a touch of rain Monday at 5,912 feet, followed by three inches of snow Monday and Tuesday, another three inches Wednesday and seven inches on Thursday.

At last check, Temira’s Mt. Hood snow forecast was less than enthusiastic, predicting light flurries or sprinkles Monday followed by snow showers Tuesday. It will be interesting to read Temira’s updates this weekend, to see if the coming storm system is growing on her.

Mount Hood’s snowpack is less than half of average for this time of year. Races and freestyle competitions have been cancelled or postponed, and 10 key chairlifts are closed and awaiting more snow to open.
