Meadows will turn on the lights and crank up night skiing starting Friday, December 13.
The resort will operate until 9 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will move to a steady schedule starting next week:
- 9-4 Mondays and Tuesdays
- 9-9 Wednesdays through Sundays
Meadows night passes are selling for $30 and are good for 3-9 pm. Season night passes cost $129.
The base at Meadows is 22 inches as of this morning, and the forecast is calling for snow Thursday and Friday, though how much will accumulate remains to be seen. It has been unusually dry and cold on the mountain for the past week.
Meadows is the first Mount Hood resort to announce it will open night skiing in 2013-14, but Skibowl has been making snow like crazy with the recent cold spell and could make an announcement over the coming week, depending on the whims of the Mount Hood freezing level.
Skibowl boasts the most night skiing terrain in North America, but it also has the lowest base elevation of the Mount Hood resorts, at 3,600 feet. Skibowl reported its snow base at six to 13 inches as of Wednesday, December 11.
