REI will host an Introduction to Cross Country Skiing class on December 21 at Cooper Spur.

First-timers will learn how to kick, glide, stop and turn on skinny skis at this five-hour event.

All of the necessary gear is included in the $95 price ($75 for REI members), as are the track fees for the Cooper Spur Nordic Center.

What: Introduction to Cross Country Skiing

Where: Cooper Spur Resort, 10755 Cooper Spur Road, 2.4 miles off Highway 35.

When: Saturday, December 31, 10-3. Skiers should arrive by 9:15 to get fitted for gear.

Cost: $75 for REI members, $95 for non-members
