The base at Timberline Lodge has been officially zero for some time now, but Palmer Snowfield will still be open this weekend.
Timberline Spokesman Jon Tullis confirmed Wednesday that the Palmer Chairlift will operate from 9 am to 3 pm Friday through Sunday in spite of the high temperatures.
Timberline season passes and Mt. Hood Fusion passes will be accepted during the weekend, and day trippers can pay early-season rates of $54 for adults 18-64, $46 for teens 15-17 and $36 for juniors and seniors.
The seven-day forecast is calling for sunshine and clear skies, with highs into the 50s.
Snow coverage is getting spotty from the top of the Magic Mile on down, but the Palmer Chairlift will be running with mid-station loading available. A small terrain park will be open on the eastern slope of Palmer Snowfield.
Palmer is reserved for skiers and snowboarders at an intermediate level or higher, because their is no easy trail down.
Sunglasses and sunblock are highly recommended.
Anyone heading up?
